SonicWALL End of Support Notice Over time, products and services go through a natural lifecycle until they reach their end of life. Some of the reasons for this include the availability of newer, more functional products, improvements or enhancements to the particular product or service and the actual demand of the product. SonicWALL has different stages for their products as they travel this lifecycle. Their product lifecycle management includes four post-release phases: Last Time Buy, Active Retirement Mode, Limited Retirement Mode, and End of Support. The purpose of this is to provide customers with a better understanding of this end of life transition, as well as give them a chance to plan ahead based upon this timeframe. See the four post-release phases below for further detail into each:
Last Day Order
Last Day Order is the last day to order the product from SonicWALL and signifies SonicWALL’s intent to begin the end of life process.
Active Retirement Mode (ARM)
Active Retirement Mode is an announcement by SonicWALL to indicate that it is no longer actively manufacturing or selling the product. While, products in this category are removed from all price lists, support contracts for products in this phase do remain for sale and available until the phase has ended. This phase typically lasts for two years beginning one day after the last day to order.
1-Year Support Last Day Order
1-Year Support Last Day Order represents the final day to purchase a 1-year support contract or subscription service from SonicWALL.
Limited Retirement Mode (LRM)
Limited Retirement Mode is an announcement by SonicWALL to indicate that it will no longer develop or release firmware updates or bug fixes for these products. Support contracts are not available for purchase on these products.
End of Support
End of Support in an announcement by SonicWALL to indicate that it will no longer provide technical support, firmware updates or hardware replacement for the products, and that all remaining unique inventory or materials will become unavailable. Should any technical issues arise on one of the subscription services that is offered during the End of Support phase, customers may be required to transition to an upgrade product at their own cost. SonicWALL has recently announced that they have placed more models into the above categories. Below is a chart that provides the details on these models and their appropriate phases.
