It’s incredibly easy. Just find the Teams contact you want to call and click the icon to place a call. You can find contacts from your address book, from an existing Teams chat, or from an email.

Absolutely! All Microsoft Teams VoIP solutions support calling an internal Teams phone from your own device. With the addition of an Enterprise Voice or Business Voice license, your employees can also send and receive calls to any phone number.  

Their Teams-enabled device notifies them, and they can pick up the call. Calling occurs directly, with no need to host a Teams meeting, and the conversation will remain private. You can call one contact directly, or multiple contacts in a conference call.

The only notable disadvantage of VoIP in general is the fact that it depends on your network connection, and that applies to Teams as well. If your company’s network performance is unreliable, that could impact your Teams phone experience. However, if that’s the case, you probably have bigger issues related to connectivity and productivity. Solving those issues will also eliminate the (potential) disadvantage of using Teams for your business phone needs.
