Hosted Exchange - Mobility
Has your office become the airport, a client site, your home, or wherever else you happen to be?
Hosted Exchange and Outlook together offer mobile and remote workers the same access and connectivity to their inbox and other messaging information as office workers.
Mobile functionality is built into Exchange Server 2003, and no separate licenses are required when using devices that support Active Synch.
Synchronization means your inbox will always contain the same information, whether you work from your company PC, your home PC, a mobile device or an Internet kiosk.
Work productively offline, when no network connectivity is available – Select File, Work Offline. Check e-mail, add contacts, schedule meetings and modify files from Public Folders on flights and during other times when you’re disconnected from the Internet. When you’re reconnected, deselect Work Offline and let Hosted Exchange get you back in synch!
With Hosted Exchange, you can select options that help you get through your email more efficiently, depending on your connection or how much time you have. You may select options to Download Headers and then Full Items, Download Headers, or On Slow Connections Download Headers Only.
Enable direct wireless synchronization of e-mail and other messaging information with Pocket PCs, Smartphones and other mobile browser-based devices. Gain other benefits and shortcuts: directly call a contact by tapping on the number in your contact list, send and receive emails on the go, always you’re your contacts, calendar and other important information at hand. And multiple versions of Outlook (more on that later in this message) provide similar interfaces and experiences no matter how or where you access your Hosted Exchange service.
OUTLOOK WEB ACCESS AND OUTLOOK MOBILE ACCESS:
Mobile and remote access are improved with two special versions of Outlook:
- Outlook Web Access (OWA) gives you continuous access to your inbox via a web browser. You can check your Inbox, Tasks, Calendar, Contacts and Public Folders from any computer, for those times when you’re traveling without your PC. And a very similar look and feel to your desktop Outlook client means no added learning curve.
- Outlook Mobile Access (OMA) ActiveSync are the mobile service components built into your Hosted Exchange Server. They allow you to browse and synchronize your inbox, contacts and other messaging information with WAP-enabled mobile phones and PDAs.
